About the Accotink Alternative (AALC) PTSA

The AAALC PTSA is comprised of Accotink Alternative students and their families, together with teachers, staff and alumni. Students in grade 9 and above can join the PTSA. We are proud of our membership – we won an award from the Virginia PTA in 2007 for having a membership percentage over 140%.

The PTSA Executive Board is comprised of the PTSA officers and the AAALC Director, Barbara Okerson, along with the committee chairs for the standing committees.

Meeting Schedule for Calendar 2008

All meetings are held at Accotink Alternative.

Currently, PTSA Meetings will begin at 7 p.m.; Executive Board Meetings at 8:45 a.m. With the change in the Executive Board membership for the 2008-2009 School year, the meeting schedule is still being determined.

High School High Tech (HSHT) Program

At the close of the 2007-2008 school year, the AAALC PTSA submitted a grant for funds to participate in the HSHT Program. We should hear the results of the grant application in mid September 2008. In the meantime, a Steering Committee has been established, and staff training has taken place.
